Mountain High: Europe’s 50 greatest cycle climbs is a new book by Procycling contributors Daniel Friebe and Pete Goding, set for release on 27 October.
The book features a selection of the best climbs that have featured in Europe’s major cycling races and a few that haven’t, but maybe deserve to. From the Tour de France’s Alpe d’Huez to Italy’s magnificent Passo dello Stelvio, they’re all described in detail with maps, profile, length, height, main points of interest and beautiful photos.
To get a taste of what to expect, grab a copy of this month’s Procycling (issue 157) that’s on sale from today, 6 October. The magazine includes two chapters from Mountain High as part of its “extremes of cycling” theme: Austria’s Kitzbüheler Horn, which averages 12.53% for 10.2km, and Spain’s Pico de Veleta in the Sierra Nevada, which rises to an asphyxiating 3384m.
The 224-page hardback published by Quercus will be on sale for £20 from 27 October. BikeRadar readers can reserve advance copies for £15 through My Favourite Magazines. These are limited to just 50 copies, available to readers in both the UK and overseas (discounts vary outside the UK).
