The 24 hours of Dubai got off to a tragic start

The inaugural 24 hours of Dubai mountain bike endurance race has been cancelled following the death of a participant.

The 45 year old German rider, Thomas Gräßle, died just an hour into the race after falling heavily in the amphitheatre section of a course within Dubai’s Al Mamzar Park.

An Austrian and a German doctor who were also racing were quickly on the scene but were unable to save Gräßle.
