Rollapaluza roller racing will be returning to Manchester Velodrome for Revolution 23 on Saturday January 10.
The sport involves two cyclists competing on a pair of vintage 1950s rollers attached to a huge dial. Competitors sprint over a simulated distance of 500m at speeds of up to 50mph.
170 people tried roller racing at Revolution 21 in November 2008, when it provided an opportunity for spectators to become competitors.
Roller racing is suitable for cyclists of all ages and the team will be putting a particular focus on children and youths at Revolution 23, with smaller bikes available for young competitors. The large bikes will still be available for persistent adults and there’s a rumour that Olympic runner Iwan Thomas will be challenging a top rugby player to a race.
