Schlecks’ Luxembourg squad to be called Team Leopard?

Full team to be unveiled on 6 January

The new Luxembourgian cycling team set up around brothers Franck and Andy Schleck will be called ‘Team Leopard’, Danish cyclist Jakob Fuglsang claimed yesterday.

“We’re going to be called Leopard,” Fuglsang, who previously rode for Saxo Bank, told BikeRadar’s sister site, Cyclingnews.

“[Having seen] what the jersey will look like… the name ‘Leopard’ will be in the middle of the jersey.” He added: “You can expect something cool and simple, a classic look.”

Neither the team nor other cyclists contacted on Monday were able to confirm or deny the information. Leopard is the name of the sports management company owned by the Dane Bryan Nygaard, who initiated the project and will be the new team’s manager.

In recent weeks, Nygaard has recruited Switzerland’s Fabian Cancellara, Frenchman Brice Feillu and Belgians Wouter Weylandt and Maxime Monfort. The full team will be presented at a press conference in Luxembourg on 6 January.
