After falling out with Crdit Agricole team boss Roger Legeay during the Tour de France when he found out that Legeay had been trying to sign Alexandre Vinokourov, Christophe Moreau has confirmed that he is set to leave and join the Ag2r team for the next two seasons. Moreau was also unhappy that his team did not try to defend the 10th place he held in the last few days of the race, preferring instead to work for the green jersey hopes of Thor Hushovd.

Ag2r have a bigger budget next season and hope that the signing of Moreau, France’s top finisher at the Tour in 11th place, will guarantee them a place in next year’s race.

– Alessandro Petacchi sustained a fracture to a finger on his right hand when he slid off his bike 15km from the finish of the HEW Cyclassics Cup race in Hamburg on Sunday. The Italian is likely to have an operation on the injured finger today, but the incident should not set back his preparation for the Vuelta and world championships too much.

– Another rider in the wars in Hamburg was Crdit Agricole’s Geoffroy Lequatre, who hit the roadside barriers after 90km of the HEW race, sustaining multiple cuts and fractures to his face. The young French rider did not lose consciousness during the incident, but will require surgery on some of his injuries once the bruising around his face has eased during the next few days.
