This year’s Lon Las Challenge, which is a sponsored 5 day cycle riding from North Wales (Holyhead) to South Wales (Cardiff), utilising Route 8 of the National Cycle Network was a major success. It’s the first time a charity has organised an official challenge of Lon Las – which is a spectacular route.
The riders had an amazing time and raised a lot of money for the charity – which provides specialist therapy for children throughout Wales who have cerebral palsy. Here’s a brief itinerary from the last Lon Las Challenge:
Travelled to Holyhead aboard See Wales Luxury mini coach. Spent the evening at a 3 star environmentally-friendly bunkhouse in Rhoscolyn, situated in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Holyhead to Tremadog, via Caernarfon. 67 miles.
Tremadog to Corris, via Dolgellau. 40 miles.
Corris to Rhayader via Llanidloes. 44 miles.
Rhayader to Brecon via Builth Wells. 49 miles.
Brecon to Cardiff Bay, 54 miles.
Next year’s challenge takes place on 15-20 April 2008, and is supported by Sustrans.
