Spot Brand, makers of belt-drive bicycles, have purchased Maverick American, the suspension company founded by Paul Turner and Frank Vogel in 1999.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Spot Brand co-owner Frank Scurlock was an early shareholder in Maverick, and worked with Turner at RockShox, the company Turner founded in the early 1990s. SRAM bought RockShox in 2002.
According to published reports, Turner and Vogel will be involved with future Maverick designs. They started a design firm called Black Glass, which licenses certain Maverick suspension designs, including the Speedball adjustable seatpost to crankbrothers and the Monolink rear suspension.
All Maverick inventory and personnel are moving from Boulder to Golden, Colorado, as the owners plan to consolidate immediately. BikeRadar was unable to reach Scurlock for comment for this story, but will provide more details in an interview with him soon.
