There’s nothing like a free ride

The first National Demo Day took place yesterday in Bedgebury Forest in Sussex, and judging by the feedback from manufacturers, and the smiles on the riders faces – it was a roaring success.

The rain did its best to persuade people to stay away, but the draw of free demo rides on so many bikes from so many manufacturers won over on the day. Riders were so keen to get on the saddle that the queue soon built up before the 10am start.

With forms filled in and details taken, the first lot of test riders were away. Some had booked similar style bikes – XC hardtails from each of the manufacturers, for example; others had booked a range of bikes from Norco’s Atomik Downhill rig to the Dawes Redle XC 2.4 bike. Once they’d got themselves stuck in there was no stopping some riders – if they didn’t have a demo ride booked, they were visiting each stand to see what was free to ride.

MET were on hand with a helmet healthcare stand, and had helmets for riders to test. Clif Bar provided much-needed energy bars, and NiteRider were on hand to brighten up the day with their lighting systems.

The WMB team even managed a sneaky ride on the Bedgebury trails, and we’re hoping to get our faces muddy at the next Demo Day.

Matt Stevens from Wiggle was at the Demo Day with a massive range of Focus bikes. Matt said “It was a brilliant day, people loved the fact that they actually had the chance to try the bikes out in the flesh. The Carb-boom we gave away was very popular too! We’re looking forward to the next one.”

Given the popularity of the first Demo Day, we can’t wait for the next one in Coed Llandegla. To book your test ride for the remaining Demo Days, click here
