Nearly 700 riders hit the trails at the inaugural Kona Oktoberfest powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport at Bristol’s Ashton Court over the weekend.

Riders had the choice of a four- or eight-hour race which they could take on solo, in pairs or team groups. The Bavarian theme meant steins (1l beer glasses) as trophies, pretzels at the bar, Bavarian flags everywhere and oompah music playing across the race HQ.

The open male category was heavily fought over, with the LVIS Singlespeed Superstars finally going clear and putting in a convincing win over the Progression Fitness Team 1 and Casual Vomit.

Psyclewerx rider David Beskeen took the eight-hour solo male win ahead of Torq Development’s Charles Newton-Mason and Luke Morris (unattached).

Amanda Brooks (Crzy Kiwi) won the eight-hour solo female race ahead of Bristol MTB Club’s Karen White and Anna Buckingham (MBSwindon - Irongirl Division).
