Team Chain Reaction Cyles/Intense have signed two new riders to their team in the shape of UK four-cross rider Lewis Lacey and Canadian Claire Kovarik.
Whistler, Canada rider Claire, who has just got married to fellow team rider and Australian downhill racing legend Chris Kovarik, joins her first factory team ride.
Team manager Nigel Page told BikeRadar: “Claire had a good season last year after braking into the women’s top ten and then consistently doing so at the end of the season.
“Claire is just as at home hitting the huge jumps and drops in the bike parks as she is racing. Her racing is coming on with experience at the world cups and we hope she will continue to improve to meet her goals on the world cup race circuit. I am sure Claire will make her first world cup podium under the Chain Reaction Cycles.com/Intense colours sooner than later.”
Lewis Lacey makes the move from being a successful BMX rider to joining the team and will be competing at BikeRadar Live’s MBUK Eliminator Dual Slalom event along with the rest of the Team Chain Reaction Cycles/Intense riders.
“We hope the support from a top mechanic and being part of a factory team with great bikes will help Lewis meet his goals on the world cup four-cross circuit this year,” said Nigel Page.
The team’s first race will be the South African National round in Pietermaritzburg the week before the first round of the 2009 UCI World Cup which takes place on April 11-12.
