Team Quick Step racing on Roval wheels

Campagnolo also collaborated on three models

Tom Boonen's Team Quick Step will race on Roval wheels in 2008.

Back-to-back world champion Paolo Bettini, Tom Boonen and the entire Team Quick Step will race the 2008 season exclusively on Roval wheels, replacing the Fulcrum brand.

Specialized has designed and developed five models of wheels for Team Quick Step, including the spring classics-friendly Roval Roubaix model. The unique Roval Fuseé Star, which halves the frontal area of a standard wheel, will be the front wheel for all time trial applications.

French engineer Claude Lehanneur created the first complete wheel systems in the 1970s, branding them Roval. Specialized resurrected the Roval brand in 2005, bringing modern design and engineering to Lehanneur’s original principles.

Additionally, Campagnolo will collaborate with Specialized to build three of the five Roval team wheels, featuring Specialized-engineered hubs and spoking patterns alongside Campagnolo-engineered rims and spokes/nipple systems. The team wheels will be assembled at Campagnolo’s facility in Vicenza, Italy.

“We are all proud to have finalized this ambitious cooperation with a strategic partner like Specialized,” said Angelo Caccia, International Sales Director of Campagnolo Srl and President of Campagnolo North America, Inc. “We feel confident that this could be the first step in an important expansion of our mutual interest and business goals,”

The decision to team-up with Campy was an obvious choice for Specialized.

“I have always had the greatest respect for Campagnolo,” said Specialized’s founder and CEO, Mike Sinyard. “The brand’s quality, integrity and history make them one of the most distinguished companies in our sport. It’s a great honor that Campagnolo has agreed to work with us to co-develop and assemble world-class race wheels. I look forward to other similar projects in the future.”
