The Rat Race Urban Adventure hits Birmingham this Saturday March 15 and the Team Saracen Girls are aiming for a podium finish in one of the first races of their season.
The urban Race began five years ago in Edinburgh where the streets and buildings were transformed into challenging obstacles and activities across a series of checkpoints spread out across the city. Since then the race has taken over Bristol, Manchester and London and this year will touch down in Birmingham, Brighton and Newcastle.
The race, which involves a number of activities including climbing, kayaking and parkour also includes a mountain biking component. Team Saracen, comprising Emma Cox – coached by pro Brit rider Oli Beckingsale last year – Gill Watson and Cathy Johnson will all be riding Saracen’s top of the range Kili Flyer hardtaills.
The Urban Adventure event village offers a host of entertainment for all the family as well as the opportunity to see the competitors as they race across the city. Live music, big screens, kids area, drinks and urban arts like parkour and mountain bike stunts make the village a great place to spend the day.
