The mellow dirtjumper
You’ve either got or you haven’t got style. There’s no question that 26-year-old dirtjumper Timo Pritzel has it, and, frankly, in spades. What’s more, it’s not just the high profile crowd-pleasers like his long jump and high jump world records, or awesome tricks like the double backflip (99.9% landed on land; 100% splashdown rate on water) that keep him pushing his riding after over 19 years riding competitively. He’s as happy being smooth time after time on his local trails as he is starring in DVDs or riding in front of a huge crowd.
Which makes him pretty much like any other pro loon we’ve ever featured in MBUK then. We spent a day with him in his home city of Berlin: How do you see yourself fitting in to the bike scene? “I guess my main part is being a dirtjumper: when you watch Disorder movies, other people have racing or freeride, but I have the dirtjumping part! I guess I’m the mellow German dirtjumper!”
