UK’s biggest one-day road race returning to Rutland

Paris-Roubaix of the Midlands is back

Some 200 riders are expected to compete in this year’s East Midlands International CiCLE Classic. A number of international teams have already signed up for the 100-mile race on 26 April.

Denmark’s Glud and Marstrand-Horsens, Slovakia’s Dukla-Trenchin-Merida and The Netherlands’ Ruiter-Dekappellan squads will race in the event, as will new teams such as the Czech Republic’s SC Sparta-Praha and Belgian-based Irish squad An Post-Sean Kelly.

The course will include a mix of wide roads and narrow farm tracks, and Maestro UK are sponsoring a special ‘bonus award’ for the winner. Race director Colin Clews explained: “£300 is on offer to any rider who can cross the finish line before any other rider enters the 180 metre-long finish straight.”
