Under-fives' 'learn to cycle' courses in the south-east of England
A ‘learn to cycle’ scheme is being run for under-fives in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
The six-week course will teach youngsters how to ride in a fun, safe environment under supervision.
Using a Steady Eddie scoot bike, children will be taught how to balance and ride a bicycle, how to cope with traffic and how to stay safe on the roads.
The course is being run by the Dacorum Sports Trust, which manages the leisure centres in Berkhamsted, Hemel, Tring and Longdean on behalf of the borough council.
Dave Cove, chief executive of the Trust, said, “As a parent myself, with two boys under five, I understand how difficult it is to get young children to learn to ride. With ever-increasing traffic on the roads, there’s a real danger they won’t learn because their parents think it’s too dangerous.”
The 45-minute sessions run every Friday from 12.35 – 1.20pm at Hemel Sportspace and cost £25.80 for six weeks for DacorumSportsPass holders.
