This year’s US cyclo-cross national championships will be staged in Kansas City between December 13-16th.
Nearly 40 races will take place over four days of competition. Non-championship and beginner-level races are scheduled for Thursday, December 13th. The elite men’s and women’s races are Sunday, December 16th.
The large number of races on are expected to contribute to a big turnout. The deadline for registration is December 8th at midnight CST, and the promoters are urging potential competitors to enter by that date at www.kccrossnationals.com
“We are closing in on last year’s record turnout for nationals,” said race director Bill Marshall. “With the price of airfare to and from Kansas City at a reasonable rate and plenty of hotel rooms still available, we hope racers who were undecided now decide to make the trip.”
The course is close to two miles per lap, and includes grass, tight technical turns and natural run-ups. “I think the course flows pretty good,” said four-time national champion Steve Tilford. “Most people would think Kansas would be flat, but this course has more elevation gain than many races I’ve done.”
