Team BikeRadar/Great Britain downhill rider Marc Beaumont will ride in the downhill finals at the Mountain Bike World Championships tomorrow. He hit the downhill track yesterday equipped with a helmet camera to give us a rider’s perspective of the course.
Here’s what Team BikeRadar manager Will Longden said about Marc’s run:
“Marc had downhill seeding runs today and had a steady run, no heroics on the still drying out, rooty hillside. He was happy enough with sixteenth place and always picks up the pace closer to race day, so plenty more practice time now for him to get that perfect run together.
Gee Atherton was fastest qualifier with all the usual suspects in close attendance. Many riders chose to cruise down the latter sections of the track and some, including two times World Champion Fabien Barel, even stopped on course.
So, it seems the mind games have started, but this is to be expected at the World Championships, where the riders never want to give too much away before they commit everything they have to that all important run on Saturday afternoon.”
