On Saturday, the organisers of the Tour of the Sarthe/Loire announced that Lance Armstrong would be competing in the five stage event, which takes place on the 7 to 10 April.
However, Team Astana denied the seven-time Tour de France winner’s participation yesterday; it seems they have other plans for Lance’s comeback.
Their rebuttal came in a statement, which said: “Contrary to certain announcements, Lance Armstrong will not be competing in the Tour of the Sarthe/Loire. Astana will confirm Armstrong’s schedule once it is finalised.”
The 36-year-old Armstrong is currently scheduled to return to competition in January, when he’ll ride the Tour Down Under in preparation for his main objective – an eighth Tour de France triumph in July.
