Magura are currently running an online survey through their website, and they’re giving away some top notch prizes including their Durin and Laurin forks and Marta SL brakesets.
Magura’s new cross country Durin fork is built for speed. Weighing 1.45kg (3.19lb) for the 80mm version and 1.48kg (3.26lb) for the 100mm, it’s light enough for your race bike but also stiff enough for a trail bike. Steering precision is excellent thanks to the Dual Arch Design (DAD) married to 32mm uppers. It responds well to sharp, weighted turns through technical sections and Magura’s reputation for quality shows – the Durin feels like a fork that is built to last.
The Laurin’s appetite to level out even the smallest bumps/roots/rough on the trail makes for excellent comfort and traction.
Magura’s unmistakeable red anodised Marta SL brakes are hugely popular among pro racers, and it’s easy to see why.
The Marta’s weight is kept low by the use of a single-piece cold-forged calliper, and the (much-imitated) minimalist right-angled lever body design with skinny carbon fibre lever. The Marta produces an impressive amount of power from the skeletal wavey rotor, too, and a very welcome new 203mm option sidesteps the potential warping problems of smaller rotors on long drags.
