Timbuk2’s backpack is one of the larger ones on test and we could have hauled a week’s worth of clothes in it, a full sized 17in laptop and a packed lunch with room to spare.
That said, it doesn’t feel like a suitcase on your back, Timbuk2 recognising that too much rigidity simply makes packs feel worse, and the slim Phoenix felt like half its actual size.
We love the side loading for the laptop and the side access option for the main compartment, very handy for fetching small stuff from the bottom. Oh, and the Timbuk2 lifetime guarantee is nice to have as well.
