Our review
Comfortable and practical for a life lived on and off the bike

Narrow shape aside, Shimano engineers have struck gold with the FN23 by balancing on-the-bike stiffness and on-foot comfort.

The soft EVA midsole has hardwearing rubber lugs to provide comfortable and long lasting grip. On the bike, the rigid mid-foot shank supports the cleat and distributes pedalling loads for comfortable riding.

Tightly knotting the laces gives a secure, even and slip-free fit, while the hook and loop instep strap keeps laces safely out of the drivetrain. However, if you plan on socialising in these, prepare for some teasing – the strap just looks wrong off the bike.
