Fox Live Wire jersey review
Despite its low price, this doesn’t look like a bargain basement option and it put in a middling performance in the sweatbox at Sheffield Hallam University.
Although our final temperature reading was high, the average over the entire test period was reasonable, and the full-length front zip lets you open it right up for extra cooling when you hit the hills.
The main fabric isn’t especially good at mopping up sweat from your skin and sending it outward but, on the plus side, it is light and stays that way when you increase the intensity, and the mesh side panels – which extend up both sides of the shoulders – add a decent amount of venting.
The Live Wire comes in a slim, fitted cut that’s stretchy so it doesn’t feel at all restrictive, plus there’s a low collar and an elasticated hem to draw it in at your waist.
You can chuck as much stuff as you like in the three rear pockets without dragging it out of shape and the internal eyewear wipe comes in handy when your sunnies get steamy.
Also consider: Fox Attack, £40. A V-necked jersey with mesh panelling front and rear for extra ventilation.
