Our review
Cheap and sturdy-looking but only average strength

FSA’s Gap is an old warhorse in crank terms and the latest developments definitely put it out to pasture in performance terms.

It’s certainly a beefy beast, with broad arms and steel inserts in the tips to lock your pedals into. Double row Mega Exo Quad bearings give it a broad footing in the frame. A full range of 165, 170 and 175mm arms lengths and 68/73mm or 83mm axle lengths are available.

Despite massive weight (1,330g –100g more than FSA claim) it’s only got an average rating in terms of strength from long-term users though. Then again, the price is cheaper than average so it’s a potential credit crunch option.
