Well shaped and impressively light trail bar for the money, but stiffness can be tiring

The Contact is Giant’s mid-width all-rounder, and at 690mm it’s an ideal choice if you want to add control over a skinny original fitment bar without worrying about having to change stem length or smashing your knuckles on too many trees.

At 249g it's 29g heavier than stated but that's still relatively light for its width and its cost thanks to the use of 7000 series alloy. The centre section gets twist markings for easy setup, although some testers had to rotate it back and forwards a few times to find a sweet spot with the slightly upswept outer sections.

Once fettled, the nine-degree sweep is well balanced and neutral on the wrists. The high stiffness gives an accurate feel to steering and tyre traction feedback too. It can get tiring on your arms if you’re hammering hard across rocky/rough terrain though, so it’s not the wisest option for weak wristed or long distance riders.
