Reassuringly tough flat bar with a wrist-friendly sweep

The Surly Torsion bar has a lot to offer riders more concerned with reliability than weight.

The Torsion is a flat bar with a difference: it feels more like a riser bar, with a 15 degree bend and a wider than average width of 620mm.

It’s beautifully made by Japanese handlebar master Nitto in strong, reliable 4130 chromoly, so not only is it extremely tough, you’re less likely to overclamp it too.

That makes it ideal for mountain bikes that have to take some hammer - it'll just come back for more, though the width is a bit less than is trendy for most applications now.

It’s ideal for both city singlespeeds and touring too – particularly if you like the wrist-friendly riding position of a riser but don’t want your cockpit any higher, often an issue with smaller frames.

Weight weenies need not apply though, as it weighs in at a hefty 280g.
