Tiagra is the fourth groupset in Shimano’s hierarchy, coming below 105 and above Sora, so it’s fairly low level stuff, but these hubs perform well.
You get effective labyrinth and contact weather sealing, easily adjusted angular contact bearings, and they run smooth as long as you set them up right.
The steel freehub body might not be the lightest out there but it’ll resist grooving from your cassette; durability is unlikely to be a problem with these.
UK distributors Madison have built them up with Mavic’s strong and ever-popular Open Pro rims using 32 three-cross spokes front and rear. Although the spoke tension was only fair, it didn’t alter during testing.
This isn’t an especially lightweight wheelset (825g front, 1050g rear) but it’s by no means sluggish and you do get plenty of strength. We got virtually no discernible flex and they stayed true despite our mistreatment and occasional hardcore stupidity.
