5 hot new road bikes to look forward to in 2017

Five bikes to keep on your radar for the coming year

Are these 2017's most hotly anticipated road bikes?

The big brands may not have reinvented the wheel for 2017 but some have reinvented the road bike. We're not sure which bike will be the best yet but here are five that are definitely in with a shout. Some we've ridden, some we can't wait to ride, but all deserve to be on your radar.

1. Specialized Roubaix

With it's front suspension system the 2017 Roubaix has been a real talking point for the coming season. The system has been built on an endurance race platform, which means a shorter reach and a taller stack than a race bike. We got to exclusively ride the Roubaix on the roads of Belgium and the UK recently so check out our full review to find out more about it.

2. Trek Domane SLR

The new Domane SLR is also a suspension road bike of sorts, with a pivot seatpost that can bow fore and aft absorbing impacts from the road. The steerer tube also includes a pivot, which allows it to bow fore and aft to a smaller degree, too, without affecting steering.

3. Cannondale SuperSix EVO Disc

Cannondale's SuperSix EVO Disc is one of the very best race bikes going with handling so crisp and acceleration so efficient it feels like an extension of your body. What seals the deal on this bike, though, is how comfortable it is despite its light weight and pedaling stiffness. It also comes with one-finger braking and hydraulic discs.

4. BMC Roadmachine

The BMC Roadmachine is a good compromise between a race and endurance bike and should fit most riders. The carbon layup means that it soaks up rough roads with some vertical give but the hulking chainstays deliver near electric responses to your pedaling.

5. Canyon Ultimate CF SLX DISC

What could be better than the ultimate bicycle? Well the Ultimate with discs, of course. BikeRadar readers voted the Canyon Ultimate the 2016 most wanted road race bike and for next season Canyon will offer the bike with hydraulic brakes.
