Hill Climb Diaries: part 9 — it’s the National Hill Climb Championships!

Big gears, big gurns and high tensions at the biggest race of the year

In part 9 of BikeRadar's Hill Climb Diaries, Joe, Reuben and Jack head to the National Hill Climb Championships

In this week’s episode of BikeRadar's Hill Climb Diaries, Reuben, Jack and Joe tackle the National Hill Climb Championships on the brutally short and steep Pea Royd Lane in Stocksbridge, near Sheffield, UK.

The event is one of the most exciting races of the year and is the culmination of months of hard graft, and perfecting bikes and bodies, so tensions run high in the run-up to the hugely anticipated moment.

Expect to see big crowds, (inappropriately) big gears, lots of gurning, lightweight people and even lighter bikes in this action-packed episode.

We should point out that we also told a bit of a fib in last week’s video — that episode was not the penultimate one and we will instead be running a hill climb special next Friday where we’ll run through our whole season and try our best to answer any of your remaining questions.

If you’ve got any burning questions about our training (or Jack’s lack of), Reuben’s vegan diet, our bikes, the hill climb scene in general or absolutely anything else, get commenting, either here or on YouTube, and we’ll do our best to get back to you.

Thanks for watching, and as always, don’t forget to check out all of the other episodes from the series:

Many thanks to Matt Clinton for the cover image for this article and video.
