The Slovenian star's new United Healthcare team ride

Stick-thin climbing ace, Janez Brajkovic changed teams for the 2015 season, switching from Kazak powerhouse Astana, to the comparatively young Pro-Continental team United Healthcare.

This may sound like a strange move, but Brajkovic has said the American team suits him, so we’re hoping to see him back at the front of the peloton this season. United Healthcare ride bikes from Italian marque Wilier, a brand that’s been around since 1906 – so they know a thing or two about making bikes.

Brajkovic’s Cento 1SR has a plethora of technical terms and acronyms plastered on the top tube – roughly translated as stiff and fast!

Brajkovic is running a mechanical Shimano Dura Ace groupset – whether this is for budget reasons or rider preference we don’t know, but many riders prefer the simplicity and reassuring mechanical ‘clunk’ of cable actuated gears.

Shimano also takes care of rolling duties with the pro peloton favourite, C50 rear and C25 front tubular wheelset. Less common are the Maxxis Champione Tubular tyres, but the manufacturer has an excellent reputation in the mountain bike industry so we’re sure Brajkovic won’t be complaining about rolling resistance or grip anytime soon.

Relatively new to the pro peloton, Pioneer’s power meter unit has gone through several refinements to reach the standards that world-class riders require. This means true left and right leg analysis, and the ability to measure force as well as the direction of force, helping Brajkovic stay at the top of his game, while powering this beautiful Italian thoroughbred.
