When it comes to stunning European rides few match the history and kudos of L’Etape du Tour. The Etape is your opportunity to ride a stage of the Tour de France and Cycling Plus has teamed up with Alpecin to offer two lucky UK-based readers the opportunity to tackle the 169km and 4,000m of climbing in the French Alps that make up the 2018 edition of this famous sportive.

And it’s not just the chance to conquer famous climbs including the Col de la Croix Fry, Montée du plateau des Glières, Col de Romme and Col de la Colombière that they’re offering you. For the 2018 L’Etape du Tour you’ll be part of Team Alpecin, a multi-national peloton of amateur riders who’ll get a full pro experience!

As well as your Etape entry you’ll be provided with a stunning Canyon Endurace CLF 9.0, as ridden by the likes of Alex Dowsett and Marcel Kittel in the Katusha Alpecin pro team, a full wardrobe of team kit, an individual training plan for the Etape, the chance to meet Alpecin Katusha riders and an exclusive training camp in Italy’s South Tyrol!

Editor-in-Chief, Cycling Plus, Cycling Plus Magazine
Editor-in-chief Rob has been pedalling Cycling Plus since 2007. His first proper road bikes were a Raleigh Sprint in the early 1980s and then a Trek 1000 in 1999. A former competitive runner, Rob has repeatedly threatened to become a competitive cyclist in every discipline from time-trailling to hill climbing to bike polo. We're still waiting.

  • Preferred Terrain: Gently undulated roads – he's more of a rouleur. Likes gravel.
  • Current Bikes: BMC Alpenchallenge, Viner Perfecta, BMC Granfondo GF0, anything shiny that Warren Rossiter will allow him to ride
  • Dream Bike: Bianchi Specialissima, Raleigh Banana
  • Beer of Choice: Innis and Gunn Original
