Tour de France 2016 bikes, gear and technology

The latest new pro gear from the world's biggest bike race

As the 103rd Tour de France gets underway, we have been visiting teams in Normandy to get the inside scoop on exactly what bikes and gear they will be racing around France (and Spain and Switzerland) for the next three weeks.

For a comprehensive overview of the route, the top riders and how you can best watch the race in the UK, the US and Australia, check out Cyclingnews' Tour de France 2016 preview.

While many companies use the Tour as a giant stage for displaying their latest and greatest, there are always at least a few pieces of gear that teams don't want you to see. Here is our compilation of such secret gear from the 2015 Tour de France that team mechanics went to great pains to conceal from the eyes of the world.

This year, we have already spied a few prototype pairs of Campagnolo Bora 50 wheels.

There are also scores of production bikes —albeit very, very expensive production bikes — on display at the Tour. Here is Ian Stannard's Pinarello Dogma F8 that he will be racing for Team Sky.

Check back throughout the the Tour as we update this page with all the latest bikes and gear. Vive le Tour!
