Weatherproof plastic phone case

BikeRadar score3.5/5

This is a tough plastic phone pocket. Ours is designed for the Samsung Galaxy S3/S4 but other options are available, and it accepts an iPhone 6.

It has a clear polyurethane cover, and a long grip seal top rolls down and is fastened by a Velcro flap. The base has an integrated cruciform fitting, which slots into the mount to fit to the bar or stem. The lot weighs 62g.

A rubber-backed plastic mount sits on the bar or stem and is secured by a strong plastic band that is tightened by a thumb screw. Fitting takes just 30 seconds.

Our iPhone 6 slips in with its other covers removed, and once the seal is fastened and the flap rolled down, it’s weatherproof. The screen is visible, and although the iPhone’s side buttons are slightly offset with the case, they work. The central mount and non-rigid base allow the phone to shake, but the fixing’s secure.

The clear screen doesn’t impair the phone’s operation, but the wobbling does, which could be due to not being the specific case for our tester’s phone. Simple button presses are straight forward, but more involved use is difficult, as it’s hard to see what you’re doing. Its ideal use seems to be for reference on the move, saving your fiddling until you’ve stopped.
