The Shield’s design resembles Shimano’s chainsets with its integrated spider. But this is carbon – or at least an aluminium core with a structural carbon outer finish.
The CNC’d rings offer shifting that’s in the middle for both speed and smoothness – but stiffness was disappointing. We actually ended up testing it several times to make sure of the figures. It is adequate, but at this price we’d expect more.
The quality and finish is all good, but considering the price and weight, there is really nothing that makes this crank stand out from the opposition.
