Rare and high end bikes worth £250,000 were stolen after the London Bike Show – and a £100,000 reward has been offered for information leading to recovery of the cache.
Two hire company Ford Transit vans containing performance bikes including Scott Foils, Giant Propels and Cervélos were stolen at around 2am on Monday morning from the TravelLodge ExCeL car park in East London reported the BikeBiz website yesterday.
The Metropolitan Police are investigating the theft which occurred after the four-day London Bike Show at the ExCeL exhibition centre.
The equipment belonged to the retailer Tri UK, which had been attending the show. Today it said it had been overwhelmed by public and industry support in the aftermath of the incident.
Alison Boon, a partner at Tri UK told BikeBiz: "After being in the triathlon industry for over 21 years, the sheer response and goodwill being sent to Tri UK has overwhelmed us. All leads are being passed over to the Police and Tri UK are still hoping some of these bikes will show up – especially the more rare ones.
Tri UK is offering a £100,000 reward for information leading to all the stock's return.
The registration numbers for the two Ford Transit Luton Box vans stolen are DY12 FJF and DV61 DJE and anyone with information should call Tri UK on 01935 414 142 or the police on 101.
