Canyon to support Mathieu Van der Poel in his CX and Olympic ambitions

Beobank-Corendon and Van der Poel on Canyon for 2018 season and beyond

Canyon has today announced that it will be partnering with Belgian team Beobank-Corendon from 1 January 2018 and supporting rider Mathieu Van der Poel in his target for XC gold at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

The news means that the team, along with 2015 world champion Van der Poel, will be riding Canyon's new carbon Inflite CX bike when they line up for the Grand Prix Sven Nys in Baal, Belgium on New Year's Day.

As part of an ongoing refinement process, Canyon and Beobank-Corendon will work in partnership, with the team providing in-depth feedback on the bikes back to Canyon's engineers and product managers.

"Mathieu is quite simply the biggest talent in the sport right now," Canyon founder and CEORoman Arnold said. "Watching him ride is something else, each time he competes he's so committed, so skillful and rides with such passion."

When the cyclocross season concludes, the team will make the switch to road with a choice of riding the Aeroad CF SLX or Ultimate CF SLX, while the Speedmax CF SLX will be used for time-trialling.

Van der Poel will receive full support from Canyon from 2018 onwards and throughout the UCI XCO World Cup season in the build up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
