Display your bike like the work of art it is

Love your bike? Hang it on your wall with The Bike Hanger

You’ve spent a small fortune on your pride and joy, so why hide it in the shed or dump it in a corner? Surely your bike deserves to be loved, admired and appreciated.

That’s the thinking, anyway, behind The Bike Hanger, a new product launched on crowdfunding site Kickstarter.

Launched by Danish company KP Cykler, the hanger looks visually a little like wall-mounted taxidermied trophies of old. The company states: “Our bikes are special, and they don’t belong out in the street. The Hanger displays your bike like the trophy it is.”

A wooden shield-shaped back plate attaches to the wall, with silvery handlebars fixed to it, upon which the top tube of your bicycle rests. The handlebar hanger can be moved out and in to allow wider bikes to fit on the rack. KP Cykler claims the Hanger can be hung on any wall type, and there are a range of natural-toned shades available including black and grey.

A pledge of 595kr, which comes in at approximately £58, US$89 or AUS$127, gets you your very own Bike Hanger in your choice of colour. KP Cykler will ship anywhere in the world (for a fee) and the products are expected to start shipping at the start of October 2015.

“For many of us a bicycle is more than a way of getting around,” said Kaspar Peek, behind The Bike Hanger’s Kickstarter campaign. “Often we have fond memories attached to it, yet we have very low expectations for the way we store our bicycles. The Bike Hanger saves floor space, and the walls from scratches, but most of all it gives our bicycles a well deserved place in our homes.”

The Kickstarter campaign has already exceeded its goal several times over, with 44 backers pledging a total of 29,621kr – so it’s clearly a popular idea.
