Final Rapha Super Cross round this weekend

Cyclocross series heads to London for final event this year

The final 2014 Rapha Super Cross event will take place this Saturday at Alexandra Palace in London, featuring a host of cyclocross activities for various ages all within a buzzing beer, food and bell-fuelled atmosphere.

The previous two events, on 19-20 October, took place Broughton Hall near Skipton in North Yorkshire. More than 430 racers attended – a new record for the Yorkshire Cyclocross League – including 65 youngsters in the under-10 category. More than 1,000 cowbells were handed out to create a rowdy atmosphere, helping to urge competitors to the end of the course, which featured technical turns, jumps, and plenty of mud.

Jody Crawforth of Hargrove RT won the men’s elite category on both days, and Amira Mellor of Yorkshire Cycling won the women’s elite for round one on Saturday, with Annie Simpson of Hope winning round two on Sunday.

In the Elite Team event, Hope Factory Racing is leading 2-0, having taken the top podium spot on both days. The team will defend their title in London this weekend at round three. Entry for spectators is free, so get down to Alexandra Place and soak up the cyclocross atmosphere.
