The new Liv EnviLiv Advanced Pro Disc

You guessed it... an aero bike, updated with disc brakes

Liv, the women’s specific cycling brand, has just announced its new high performance aero road bike — the EnviLiv Advanced Pro Disc.

Available in three different models and designed around Liv’s 3F design philosophy, this road racer is built for all-out speed and performance, with the added stopping power afforded by disc brakes.

Women’s specific carbon frame

The heart of the new bike is the carbon frame which has been designed according to Liv’s 3F design philosophy. This approach uses a custom dataset factoring in the unique proportions and features of female physiology to create a fit that is better suited to female riders.

Now, the EnviLiv Advanced Aero race bikes are available with disc brakes as an option too.

The frame uses Giant’s AeroSystem tube shapes for improved aerodynamics. The design prioritises stiffness along with an aggressive geometry for a responsive and quick handling ride.

Nonetheless, the bike has clearances for 28c tyres, providing some concession to comfort for longer days out on the bike.

Capable components

The models in the range will feature Giant’s own SLR 1 Aero 42F and 65R Disc wheelset. The 65/42mm mid-section carbon rims should provide a good balance between aerodynamics and acceleration.

The top of the range Advanced Pro 0 will feature a Shimano Ultegra Di2 drivetrain, while the Advanced Pro 1 will be fitted with the mechanical groupset. Both use Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes. The Advanced Pro 2 will be fitted with the new Shimano 105 groupset.

The top-end Advanced Pro 0 will also come fitted with a Giant dual-sided power meter crankset from the factory.

It’s all in the details

The women’s specific approach results in several specific details that have been fine tuned to improve the overall fit.

The integrated cockpit features a smaller reach and drop

All bikes feature an integrated cockpit for improved aerodynamics and stiffness. The bars are specced with a lower reach and drop to better complement the women’s fit of the bike. Likewise, the new 105 drivetrain features the new, slimmer brake and shift levers for easier use with smaller hands.

We also rather like the colour scheme Liv has chosen for this bike, with a paint job that doesn’t necessarily scream out that this is female specific. Instead this is simply a racing machine focussed on speed, which happens to be designed for women.
