New women's cycling show debuts on British Eurosport

Voxwomen Cycling Show brings women's cycling to TV screens

Voxwomen, the online cycling channel launched five months ago, has announced the debut of a pilot women's cycling television show to be aired exclusively on British Eurosport.

Appropriately titled the Voxwomen Cycling Show, it will bring unprecedented coverage of women's cycling to TV screens, including behind-the-scenes racing footage from major events in the 2015 women's racing calendar with footage from the Aviva Women's Tour, the Strade Bianche and the AMGEN Tour of California.

The show was part-funded by a Kickstarter campaign in response to calls from women's cycling fans for more televisual coverage of racing, which attracted significant support and exceeded its initial financial target.

Founded by UCI women's commentator Anthony McCrossan, Voxwomen is produced and presented by a female team including Bryony Burton, Kimberley Keay, Lois Dowsett and Laura Winter, with significant contributions from the pro peloton.

“Professional women’s cycling is an exciting spectator sport, and for a long time now the women’s peloton has deserved more media support," said McCrossan.

"We’re delighted that Voxwomen and British Eurosport can finally provide them with a platform to help to further promote the sport. I would also like to thank the teams, riders and events who are at the hub of this programme. We hope you all enjoy this first show and we’re sure that this will be just the start of further coverage of the women’s professional peloton.”

David Kerr, managing director of British Eurosport, said: “British Eurosport is well established as the home of cycling and we are always looking to acquire more good quality content for our viewers. It’s great to see a show that focuses on women’s cycling and we are very happy to add it to our schedules.”

The Voxwomen Cycling Show will air on British Eurosport 2 at 9.15pm on Wednesday 29 July, and will feature 30 minutes of cycling lifestyle content including behind-the-scenes racing footage of the recent Aviva Women's Tour, plus features covering interviews and riding tips.

A second programme is currently in production.
