It’s that time of year again – our annual Bike of the Year awards are fast-approaching, with the 2020 winners to be announced on BikeRadar this Friday (20 March).

For the past six months, our expert team of testers from BikeRadar, Cycling Plus magazine and Mountain Biking UK magazine have been putting the most exciting bikes of 2020 through their paces. While the world is undoubtedly an uncertain place right now, we're ready to reveal our winners.

More than 60 road, gravel and mountain bikes have been tested in locations across Europe, from the steep ascents and twisting descents of Gran Canaria to the rocky trails of Spain’s Sierra de Guadarrama mountains, via South Wales and our home patch in the west of England.

Whether you’re thinking about buying a new bike in 2020, dreaming about your N 1 or are just interested in how this year’s rides perform, this is the most comprehensive bike test out there. Regardless of your riding style, we’ve got you covered.

This year, we will be presenting awards across three headline categories to bring you a broader range of the most popular bikes on the market. You can find out the winner of the following categories this Friday:

  • Road Bike of the Year
  • Trail Bike of the Year
  • Enduro Bike of the Year

After months researching, planning, shortlisting, riding, deliberating, riding, arguing, riding again and writing we’ve come to our final decisions.

This has been the closest-fought and hardest-to-judge edition of Bike of the Year since the awards were launched in 2009.

We will also be presenting awards for a number of sub-categories, with winners announced daily from Monday 23 March:

  • Aero Bike of the Year
  • Performance Bike of the Year
  • Gravel Bike of the Year
  • Superbike of the Year
  • £1,000 Road Bike of the Year

You'll find even more coverage in the latest issues of Cycling Plus and MBUK – both on sale now – with comparative reviews of the leading bikes in each category.

For road riders, bikes featured in our 2020 Bike of the Year test include the Specialized Tarmac Disc, Trek Madone, Giant Defy, Vitus Vitesse Evo, Canyon Ultimate, Focus Izalco, Orbea Orca and Cannondale SuperSix EVO.
