Norco recalls approximately 2,800 children’s bikes

Crank arms can bend or break, posing crash hazard

Canadian bicycle manufacturer Norco has issued a recall of approximately 2,800 children’s bikes. According to Norco, crank arms on these bicycles can bend or break, posing a crash hazard to the rider. 

To date, there have been four reports of failure and no injuries.

Models included in this recall have 20 and 24in wheels and came equipped with Samox SAC30-111NA square taper cranksets in 140 and 152mm lengths.The crank model number ‘AC30’ is stamped on the inside of both crankarms.

The specific models affected by this recall include:

  • Storm 2.1
  • Storm 4.1
  • Charger 2.1
  • Charger 4.1
  • Fluid HT+ 2.3
  • Fluid HT+ 4.3
  • Fluid FS 2.2
  • Fluid FS 4.2.

These bicycles were sold through Norco dealers from May 2016 through September 2017 for between $400 and $1,700.

Norco recommends that consumers stop riding these bicycles immediately and return them to the nearest Norco Bicycle dealer, who will install a new replacement crankset.
