Gore Xenon II AS jacket review$196.42

Great for cooler days

BikeRadar score4/5

The Xenon jacket is tricky to pull on as the sleeves are fully lined, but its warmth makes it ideal for cooler days, early mornings and late nights.

While the Countdown gilet is Gore’s ‘slim fit’, the Xenon II AS is ‘tight fit’. This is a real race cut, with pre-curved arms, a narrow body and a long tail, so it feels great on the drops and doesn’t flap.

It’s fully wind and showerproof (the black panels let water through eventually). The reflective details are great, the Velcro cuffs keep the wind out and the waistband has grips to hold the tail down.

Rides fast everywhere, all the time. Jamie started riding age 12, first on mountain bikes, progressing through cross-country and downhill racing (followed by motorcycle road racing and a dark time as a runner). A dedicated roadie since 2007, Jamie has dabbled in road racing, crits and time trials, but has the most fun simply riding hard with a couple of friends, chasing daft average speeds. Needless to say, Jamie values pure performance above all else and loves aero kit. Fiercely honest in his reviews. Has a chain-cleaning fetish.
