"Bombproof and better priced than before, but bulky and low on light for its weight"

The recent £50 price drop helps, but Blackburn’s X8 lighting twinset is still more about design than delivery. The twin LED lamps are mounted in futuristic winged and finned lamps on sturdy ‘gem’-decorated cam clamps.

A long split lead connects to a multi-angled hardcase battery for a nigh-on indestructible setup with a no-quibble warranty.

The lamps are on the dim side, so even with the flood and spot running at the same time, you’ll be cruising not charging when the going gets technical.

The casing detail adds masses of weight and bulkiness, too. Given the weight, the two-and-a-half-hour maximum run time is relatively short, but you can dim either or both if you just need to be seen rather than see.
