Weak protection

A four-digit combination lock with an inbuilt light – which works well – is a neat idea. The mount bracket has a 5mm Allen design with a neat ratcheting web, it’s easy to fit and simple to remove.

But how does it fare under attack? Not well. In fact, it’s very, very poor. The cable is only 4mm in diameter and we cut through it with bolt croppers in nine seconds.

The plastic coating was more trouble than the wire itself, but you could easily cut the sheath using a penknife and the wire with just a pair of pliers.
