The Escapist is Osprey’s do-it-all, go-anywhere pack range for adventurous types on and off the bike. It’s a robust pack that reminds us of what CamelBak’s now defunct TransAlp promised but never fully delivered.
Coming in three sizes – 20, 25, and 30-litre capacities – it combines a main compartment with an internal zipped divider and top and bottom zip accesses, so you can stick emergency kit in the bottom and the rest of your gear in the top and get at both with minimal fuss.
Five zipped pockets/compartments – including two large waist and one shoulder strap one – together with three mesh pockets ensure plenty of organization and usable storage. Compression straps help control the load and the ventilated back and harness system enjoys eight points of adjustment – including back length.
It doesn’t include a bladder in the price but it’s tough as old boots (it weighs 1.1kg), which should mean a good life expectancy, however if you’re after a pack to ‘go light and long’ with then there are other options that weigh half as much.
