Sidi Dragon 2 SRS Carbon | $429.99
BikeRadar verdict
"If you want the best of the best for your feet, look no further. Just look away when paying."
Sidi’s Dragon II Carbon SRS shoes are possibly the best we’ve ever used. They’re a winner for the racers and serious thrashers, although more casual users may want more flexible and casual shoes, like the Dominator 5s.
These are Sidi’s top flight shoes in terms of both performance and cost. Given Sidi’s status as one of the top makers of cycling and motorbike shoes, you’d expect them to be good.
They don’t disappoint. With soft, pliable and tough Lorica synthetic leather uppers, the Dragons hug your foot and fit like a second skin thanks to the tough Velcro strap, Techno 2 dial system and ratchet buckle.
New on this version of the Dragons is an improved heel retention system. This cradles your ankle and Achilles – much like the concept behind the Giro Roc-Loc helmet retention system – which means that the fit is impeccable.
The sole is now carbon-reinforced, unlike previous plastic soles. It’s ultra stiff and should stay that way for years.
Completing the sole is the Sidi SRS – Sole Replacement System – which lets you replace the tread units and fit toe studs as you see fit. The mega-stiff sole does limit walking, but it’s fine for scrambling up the odd bank.
Our only other niggle is that the replaceable tread blocks are isn’t totally secure – ours rattled loose a few times before we resorted to thread- locker to keep them tight.

User review of Sidi Dragon 2 SRS Carbon
These are the best off-road shoes that I have ever ridden. There is enough stiffness to use them on the road when I ride my crosser in bad weather without losing too much efficiency, and their off road performance is top notch. The adjustments are easy to use and provide a perfect fit every time once you have things dialed in. They are very comfortable, and perform exceptionally well in all types of off road conditions. Just about everything on these shoes is replaceable (closures, cleats, sole), so while expensive, you should be able to ride these shoes for years to come. The one downside of these shoes is the price which keeps going up in the States due to the weak dollar. Keep your eyes out for a sale, and jump on these shoes. You won't be disappointed.

User review of Sidi Dragon 2 SRS Carbon
I counted this morning, I own for my sins 7 pairs of cycling shoes, 4 pairs are MTB versions. These are very good shoes, but very narrow. I must admit for XC racing these are perfect, for all day comfort, marathon and ultra marathon, multi day stage racing they tend to make my wee toes shout for relief!
They are extremely well designed and adjustable. But just not as comfortable in long events as a pair of BG Specialized shoes half the price.
5 stars for build quality, 2 stars for value, 3 stars for XC and overall impression.
