Lake MX155 shoes review
BikeRadar verdict
"A seriously constructed shoe for more extreme terrains"
Shopping partners
The Lake MX155 feels as though it was developed especially for UK wilderness trails, especially those with extended hike-a-bike sections where you know you will be guaranteed generous helpings of mud and the sort of loose rocks that make many shoes feel like you borrowed some high heels.
This shoe’s solidly built from the ground up, with Lake’s Alpine outsole, leather and cordura upper plus neoprene scree collar and extended toe cap – a combination that makes you feel very protected. We like the confidence that comes with wearing them on rough terrain. You can even add screw-in studs for more traction.
It’s not the most responsive shoe on the pedal, but the inner holds your foot firmly enough in place, and we like the holder that tucks laces out of the way. All that serious construction does bring extra weight, and your feet will get hot when the sun comes out. But for its intended use of long-distance riding and more extreme conditions we’d give this shoe a look.
