"Heavyweight bike shoe that shrugs off the elements"

Sat 24 Apr 2010, 3:00 pm BSTBy

The MT60s are a well thought out pair of shoes. The non-aggressive styling and shaped arch make them fine for walking in, which means they're ideal for commuting duties.

They have a Gore-Tex liner to keep out the elements, making them suitable for use throughout the year, and they're both stiff enough for cycling and supportive enough for walking.

The only thing we weren’t keen on was the retention system – narrow laces that you tuck under an elasticated loop to keep them out of your chain.

While these shoes weigh over a kilo, you don’t notice that either when walking or riding. Sizing is on the snug side, so it’s definitely a case of trying before buying.

  • I have some of the boot versions, great in the wet but yes, the laces are a PITA; would be good with a velcro cover. Also: once wet, stays wet.

  • I have had these for just a couple of weeks. A nice shoe, I don't have any problems with the "retention system" ... they're ... erm .... laces.
