Endura Humvee Short (09) | $71.99
BikeRadar verdict
"Packed with features but could do with lighter materials"
These perennial budget classics from Scottish kitmeisters Endura always sell in spades but are getting a bit long in the tooth.
At nearly 600g they’re shockingly heavy, which will affect comfort when the fabric gets sweaty or wet, and the plethora of cargo spaces will allow you to weigh yourself down still further.
We’re not sure why the two deep rear pockets are faced with a nylon shell fabric. They don’t extend across the splash zone, and inhibit breathability without offering much additional protection.
The ripstop outer is pretty much bombproof and comes with a fit-enhancing stretch yoke but the elasticated waist makes the Hummvees far from flattering for anyone but supertoned gym bunnies.
The Clickfast liner is easily swappable, making these a versatile, good value riding staple, but more suitable for mid-season rather than the sweaty heights of summer.

Great shorts - the back pockets that confuse this reviewer so much are ideal to stuff OS maps in!

The bad
I bought a pair in Feb 2008 and by August the stitching was falling apart.
The belt is also completely useless as it doesn't hold it's position.
The Clickfast liner lasted only 4 months before it started causing painful abrasions.
The Good
The leg pockets are great for storing gels/snacks and have very easy access during a ride.
The design and stretch fabric is fairly comfortable and unobtrusive
Overall
A cheap pair of shorts with a liner but they don't last long enough and for that reason I won't be buying another pair.

Fantastic shorts. I've used and abused mine for 4 years and they still look good as new.
After a nuclear war, the only things left intact will be cockroaches and Endura Humvee shorts!
Incidentally, they look as good on the bike as they do strolling around in the sun.
Brilliant.

Had mine two weeks and think there great. I wear them as normal shorts without the linear and pop the linear in when off out on my bike.
Only slight complaint is the belt buckle seems a bit naff, it works but I can't see it lasting long!
Apart from that I'm about to buy another pair as I live and die in them!

Great shorts.... don't understand why the reviewer is worrying about the weight. However the belt has long gone more to do withbuying a size that should fit but mus remember to buy next size up, and I will be buying another pair. Great value greay shorts

Mine have been used almost every weekday for 2 years and are bombproof. Some of the stitching is wearing away from rubbing but they hold together because they are nicely overengineered! Pockets and vents are superb, only problem is the belt will start slipping eventually and is fairly critical for a good fit.
