Fox Mid Ranger review

The 'Mid Ranger' is Fox's aptly named best-selling short and we're not surprised if you like your pants all inclusive and long legged. The liner is fixed at the waist which reduces off bike versatility, but the pad is a nice four piece Italian job.

Long baggy legs but they're cool, comfy and well priced shorts

The 'Mid Ranger' is Fox's aptly named best-selling short and we're not surprised if you like your pants all inclusive and long legged.

The liner is fixed at the waist which reduces off bike versatility, but the pad is a nice four piece Italian job which comes into its own on longer rides. We really like the soft suede-effect fabric and the long leg cut of the shorts too, which helps minimise milky thigh exposure when riding or relaxing, and it wicks and dries well too.

There's a bit of bunching in the seamed crotch but not enough to catch saddles or rub unduly. The stretch knit back panel stops the broad waistband sliding down your arse on climbs, and there's drawstring waist adjustment, but no fly and the legs can flap and catch seat QRs occasionally.

The hand pockets are deep enough to store change safely, but the pockets on the lower leg really bounce, rub and generally annoy if you put anything heavy or lumpy in there.
